Here's a 4 minute video of me digital painting of Makise Kurisa from the anime Steins Gate. This was my first time using Camtasia. I love the program but I do notice after editing the video's clip speed to adjust the time from the 2+ hours I painted this, that the photoshop cursor moves independently. I'll see what I can do to fix that for the next video. I think I'm gonna work on this image a little more. I want to render her eyes and maybe add a few little touches here and there.

MLC: Cover illustration

Pencils and inks for a cover idea I had. This will most likely go into my next art book before it becomes a cover. By the time I actually start creating covers for the title I would probably look at this and wonder why I even thought about using it in the first place. I do like the idea of having multiple characters all over the covers like this. It kinda feels like a collage.
Maybe I'll do some more similar to this one. It was pretty fun to draw.

Animation Tests!!!
I was inspired by an amazing illustrator/animator Esteban Valdez. Mine are nowhere near as good but I felt like sharing. These are a few test for an animate short that I was working on and I hope to finish one of these days. This is a new year so maybe I should get it done before 2012.

Tropicana Tango

A few designs for a character named Tropicana Tango, from Misery Loves Company. She may be small but she's vicious. One of the designs has a sci-fi look that I would have used if I went with the sci fi route for the story. The other design is a sort of animated look that will be closer to her final design as in being short and wearing every day fashion. I do like the purple hair though. I think I may implement that into the final design.

Misery Loves Company post 01

This is a series that I have been wanting to do for a loooooong time. I have had a lot of hits and misses with my last projects (mostly misses, I seem to run into a lot of those). I've been playing wiht a lot of ideas with how to approach this one as dar as genre. Fantasy, Sci-fi, Thriller, Drama? So many ways to go. This decision was affected by everything that I am interested in. Comics, Hip Hop, Jrpgs, Kung fu movies, and a few television shows. But I decided to go with drama, Crime drama to be more precise. Why, because the only thing that is influencing me at this point of my life is crime dramas, Jason Aaron's Scalped, Son's of Anarchy, In Too Deep, Belly, Death Sentence and more recently, The Wire and 100 bullets have all just grabbed me by the neck and refused to let go. Why, because they are so real.
So now I am crafting something that will take parts that I love from all of my failed projects, some which have been featured on this blog like Dark Raven Clique and Pookie and Snuckums, and start creating something that I will want to continue working on until it is 100 percent finished.
The image above is a promotional image featuring Redbone Pretty, (more about her later) and is also featured on my redbubble t-shirt page. Check the slideshow on the right!
Thanks for reading and wish me luck on this journey. Peace!

Nicolas Marlet Sketchbook

Okay, I decided to check out this awesome blog that I'm sure everyone has heard of, http://characterdesign.blogspot.com/. Fellow blogger, Randall Sly posted, not too long ago, that the great Nicolas Marlet had just recently had a sketchbook published featuring personal work hat he has done. 164 pages for around $25, what a deal! He posted the link to the Gallery Nucleus website where the book can be purchase. By the time I was aware of the sketchbook(last week) it was sold out. Of course this comes to no surprise but I wanted the book badly.
It didn't take me long to find the book of course because I have a very reliable source for getting my hands on rare and out of print books, Stuart Ng Books. So for those of you who just needs to have this book, here's the direct link to the page where it can be found, http://www.stuartngbooks.com/sketchbooks4.html
Tell him Chris Sims from ArtOfficial Studios sent you and you can thank me later.

Long time coming...

Sorry I haven't been posting on a regular basis. I've been real busy with life as well as this art stuff. I put the manga/comic on hold for the time being because I've always wanted to do an animated short and I feel like it's about time that I get it started and then get it done. I can envision what I want it to look like but I'm not sure how to reach the final product so I'm just going to get into head first and see if I survive as well as deliver a product I would want to see.
I'll post progress screens as I work hard on this short and to keep the blog rolling, I'll post info and comments about things that I'm in to. Speaking of things I'm into. I have a new link for my amazon store. Check it out if you don't mind and if you see something you like, don't hesitate to make a purchase.
I finally got a facebook after so long of avoiding all these social networking sites, i.e. myspace, twitter etc. Come by and say hi.
That's basically all I have for now but I will be posting on a regular basis from now on. It may not always be art but it'll be something cool. As for now I will post an Illo I've done for the beautiful Jayonna Fabro and talented Michael Watson.
Peace!
